On Saturday, Pacifica National Little League players, coaches and families ignored the distant rain clouds and had their opening day ceremony. Flags were waved and noise makers went off as PNLL's President John Boulland spoke to the crowd about the recent field improvements and snack shack upgrades.
Boulland closed with a short appreciation to the sponsors that made it all possible.
Each team paraded as a crowd filled with grandparents, parents, friends and siblings cheered them on.
The Star Spangled Banner was performed by guitarist Nick Brown, a Pacifica native. Players listened in their dugouts with their caps off waiting for the rain to stop.
Unfortunately, the thunder, lightning and hail left the fields unplayable. It was overall a great ceremony for PNLL and players are excited to get the season started.

Our seventh-grade St. Peter Church Celtics had an outstanding season, going 8-0 in regular season.
Terra Nova High School track athletes competed March 9 at Half Moon Bay High School in a quad meet against Hillsdale High School, Half Moon Bay and Woodside High School.
Two-time rugby Olympian (and member of the USA Sevens Eagles team) Danny Barrett contemplated retiring last year after eight years of international competition. But, sometimes, it only takes some loving to make a person change their mind. Such is the case with the 31-year-old Barrett.
After two seasons cut short by the COVID pandemic, Little League baseball returned to action on a crisp, sunny Saturday in Pacifica.
