Pacifica’s Nike Agunbiade has been tearing through collegiate competition in this her sophomore campaign on the University of Southern California varsity diving team. Last week, she was named PAC-12 Diver of the Week after winning three times.

In USC’s meet hosting Hawaii, UCLA and Utah, the All-American won both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards. She posted scores of 295.55 and 302.45, respectively. The next day she scored 268.20 to take first place on platform. In so doing, she beat the next-best finisher by 40 points.

Agunbiade went to Crystal Springs Upland School. While in high school, she excelled on the 1-meter board, finishing sixth in the

California Interscholastic Federation championships in 2019.

This year’s success is merely a continuation of last year’s domination. Last year, she was named PAC-12 Freshman of the Year and received the most points of any freshman in the conference championship. She even qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in platform.

She will be in the pool again beginning today

when the PAC-12 tournament begins. The diving championships are scheduled to take place in Tucson, Ariz., at the University of Arizona.
