May is Mental Health Awareness Month. As a volunteer and advocate with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, this month I am asking everyone to join us and demand #MoreForMentalHealth.
Suicide prevention is so important to me. In 2018, I lost a family member to suicide and it has forever changed how I view mental health. There is so much stigma over mental health and illness. So much so that many people fear seeking support when they need it because of shame. We need to do more for people who struggle by normalizing mental health and making resources and services more accessible to those who truly need support.
