Jed Louis Avtonomoff died Tuesday morning, June 9, 2020, peacefully, while at home, from natural causes. He was 44 years old.

A true California native, Jed grew up near the ocean in Pacifica, Calif., attending Sharp Park School and Terra Nova High School, where he maintained a near-perfect 4.0 GPA. Jed was an avid skateboarder and he also excelled in baseball, soccer and Kajukenbo Karate. He was a tournament-level surfer, and could frequently be seen hitting the waves off Linda Mar Beach.

Jed was an attendee, and then a counselor, at the YMCA in Stonestown and the YMCA summer camps at Jones Gulch.

Jed’s love of surfing drew him to Hawaii, where he completed his senior year at Kakuku High School, North Shore, Oahu. He was able to compete in world-class surfing events at Sunset Beach, Hawaii and Bali, Indonesia.

Jed was predeceased by his mother, Donna, and is mourned by his older brother, Bradley Blake, of Crescent City, Calif., and by his father, lifelong San Francisco attorney Nick V. Avtonomoff, and his wife, Terry, and their two children Katrina and Michael.

Those who knew Jed knew him to be a true friend to his mates, finding the good in each of them. He was smart, kind, loving, courageous and happy. He will be forever missed and never forgotten by his loving family and friends.

“May God bless and keep you always. May you build a ladder to the stars and climb up every rung, and may you stay Forever Young.”
