Hundreds of Pacifica youths play at the baseball field located at the site of the Sanchez Concert Hall on Linda Mar Blvd. The playing field is one of two baseball fields maintained by the City of Pacifica, the other field being Fairway Park.
A dedicated funding source is needed to continue to provide basic maintenance and to keep these fields available to the baseball programs. Measure O that goes on the voting ballot on June 3 will help to enhance local playing fields and parks.
Voter approval of a one-eight cent sales tax, costing the average resident less than $2 per months, will raise approximately $16 million a year to benefit parks throughout San Mateo County, including Pacifica, according to the parksforthefuture.org website.
The public is invited to a volunteer party to spread the word about Measure O Thursday, May 1 at the Borel Estate Building, 1700 El Camino Real, San Mateo from 5 to 7 p.m. RSVPs can be made by calling 650-321-1638.
