Great pitching carried the Terra Nova frosh-soph baseball to two wins last week solidifying their hold on first place in the Peninsula Athletic League-Ocean Division. They defeated Sequoia 2-1 behind the pitching of Cage Cascone and Joe Corbett and then smacked El Camino 13-2. They are now 10-2 in their division and 18-6 overall. In an earlier game they blanked Woodside 11-0.

Cascone threw the first six innings against Sequoia, allowing one run on six hits with five strikeouts. Corbett earned the save, allowing one hit and fanning one.

The Tigers came up with a big defensive play in the seventh to secure the win. With a runner on third and no outs, Michael Shores fielded a ground ball at third and fired home to catcher Robert Burgoyne, who applied the tag for the all-important first out. Corbett then retired the next two hitters to end the game.

The score was tied at one into the sixth. Shores led off with a single and advanced to second on an out. After Corbett was hit by a pitch Rodolfo Locon singled home Shores with the decisive run.

Terra Nova scored their first run in the fourth. Jake Barradas walked, advanced on a single by Shores and scored on a single by John Coloma.

Jake Raven pitched the first six innings to get the win over El Camino. He allowed one earned run on five hits with six strikeouts. Joe Corbett threw a perfect seventh, striking out two.

Raven was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a RBI to pace the offense. Barradas had two hits and two RBIs, Shores a double and single and two RBIs and Coloma ripped a two run triple. Locon had a single and two RBIs and Drew Macy had a hit and a RBI.

Anthony Papaleo pitched six innings of no-hit ball against Woodside. The sophomore had 10 strikeouts and allowed just one walk. Vito Bovo pitched a scoreless seventh, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Barradas led the offense with a two-run homer and three runs scored. Omar Eseifan scored three times and ripped a triple, and Locon also had a triple. Burgoyne stroked a double and scored twice.
