Alice Hoffman of Hoffman's Fine Wine and Spirits in Rockaway Beach celebrated her tenth anniversary in business this year with style. She came out with a special bottle of Pacifica champagne to commemorate her anniversary.
With a label created by local student Michelle Jacquemet, the bottle sports a beautiful photo print of Rockaway Beach.
Hoffman's Fine Wine and Spirits is located at 205 Rockaway Avenue, the perfect place for surfers, beach goers and tourists who stay at the Rockaway Beach hotels. They all know about the shop, but Hoffman thinks most Pacificans don't realize what a wide selection of unusual wine and beer is available in the store.
Not that it's kosher, she carries a popular beer called Hebrew from a San Francisco
brewery, beers from the Half Moon Bay brewery, Moylans from Novato, Wee Heavy from Scotland, Great White from Eureka and Hobgoblin from England, to make a small dent in the collection.Hoffman stocks unusual wines from small vineyards imported from Bulgaria or Georgia in the former Soviet Union as well as from wineries in the U.S. She carries Pacifica tee shirts and sweats, San Francisco chocolates, novelties and postcards for tourists.
"So many people have asked me for anything that says Pacifica," she said. "The shirts are carried all the way to China and Australia."
