The Terra Nova varsity boys, and frosh-soph girls swim teams defeated El Camino last Thursday. The frosh-soph boys swam unopposed and the varsity girls put up a strong fight but were defeated in the end.
For the frosh-soph team Jeremy Ferrara swam his personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:23.66.
The frosh-soph girls 200-yard medley relay team Annegret Craytor, Katelyn Smathers, Patricia Rivas and Jennifer Baca - took first place with a time of 2:26. 94. In the individual events, Katelyn Smathers took first place in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 31.38 seconds.
Malia Hanaike, Devon Hipschman earned a spot of the varsity girls team this week. Malia Hanaike proved her strength in the breaststroke events, while Devon Hipschman accepted the challenge of two new events 200-yard individual medley and the 100-butterfly. Karina Wall won first place in the 500-yard freestyle with her best time of the season (6:20.91).
Alex Story, Tony Smith, Christian Petty, Kyle Jensen and Dominic Sese joined the varsity boys team this week. Alex Story swam a personal best in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:19.98.
In a close race, Daniel Bartholy took first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.48), winning by eight tenths of a second. Drew Spinetti took first in the 100-yard backstroke and swam a personal record with a time of 1:09.02. Senior Jacob Belway broke two personal records, swimming the 50-yard free in 24.71 seconds and the 100-yard free in 56.02 seconds.
Terra Nova will host Hillside tomorrow in the last league meeting of the season.
